Richmond Reminds Drivers to Avoid Breeding Toads

Why did the toad cross the road? To breed.

The Borough of Richmond reminded residents in and around Church Road that it’s common toad breeding season. This means the toads will be crossing the road to spawn in pools opposite Ham Common.

The council said it would be closing a short section of Church Road for two weeks.

Each year, about 100 common toads about the size of a “teenager’s fist” are killed.
