Southwark Council Sends Bailiffs to Collect Unpaid Tax

Southwark residents who repeatedly refuse to pay their council tax may get a visit from a “council approved bailiffs,” according to a press release.

Initial visits targeted Peckham (SE15) and Borough (SE1) at weekends. Up to 50 bailiffs have collected £80,000 in arrears.

“The Council has contracted four bailiff service providers to cover specific areas to collect the amounts owed or to remove goods to settle the debt,” the release said.
