From 5PlusArchitects: “This 25 storey hotel in City Road EC1 will be iconic when complete. The superstructure is a steel frame surrounding a reinforced concrete core. The building sits over a 2 storey basement. A key issue is the close proximity of the Northern Line which is situated within 5m of the site. The cladding is high specification glazing with no horizontal joints and steel cleat connections back to the steel frame. Steel was chosen and the preferred structural solution because of the speed of erection and ability to achieve the complex geometry at higher levels.”
