The Borough of Wandsworth is urging residents to write to Secretary of State for Transport Patrick McLoughlin detailing how noise from Heathrow affects their lives.
Over the past 14 months, the council said it has received more than 1K complaints from residents. During this period, Heathrow has been experimenting with additional flights during what had been considered quiet hours. Transport is currently considering changes to the Heathrow flight patterns.
The council says that none of the responsible parties — Heathrow Airport Ltd, the Civil Aviation Authority and the Department for Transport — have “attempted to measure the impact on residents on a meaningful scale.”
